Description

Thyroid Select® provides comprehensive support for a healthy thyroid gland with researched micronutrients, amino acids and herbs. The ingredients in Thyroid Select” have been studied for their ability to nourish the thyroid gland and help optimize thyroid function. In addition, Thyroid Select® contains ingredients studied to help promote the normal synthesis and utilization of critical thyroid hormones that work together to regulate metabolic activities throughout the body, notably thyroglobulin (Tg), thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3).

Micronutrient support in this product begins with vitamin A, provided as bioactive, preformed retinyl palmitate. Vitamin A is an antioxidant which supports mucous membrane health and helps to regulate healthy thyroid hormone metabolism.

Thyroid Select® also contains important thyroid-supportive minerals including iodine, the main component of the two primary circulating thyroid hormones: T3 and T4. The iodine in this product is supplied as potassium iodide, a form of iodine which has been clinically shown to help protect the thyroid gland from radiation damage. Three additional minerals-zinc, selenium and manganese-are provided in the form of Albion® amino acid chelates, offering researched superior absorption. These minerals are required for the synthesis of thyroid hormones, the conversion of T4 to T3 and the release of T3 from the thyroid gland. Zinc and selenium also function as antioxidants and may help protect the thyroid gland from potential damage caused by inflammation or other attacks.

In addition to the above vitamins and minerals, Thyroid Select® contains two L-form amino acids, tyrosine and leucine. Tyrosine is a core structural component of thyroid hormones; it combines with iodine to make T3 and T4. The tyrosine in Thyroid Select® is provided as N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine, a highly stable form. Leucine is a branched-chain amino acid needed to produce thyroglobulin, a protein housed in the thyroid gland which serves as a substrate for the synthesis of thyroid hormones and as a storage site for iodine. Leucine is further required for healthy synthesis of muscle tissue, the primary site of mitochondrial energy production. Leucine supplementation has been suggested to help prevent muscle wasting in people with an overactive thyroid and promotes lean body composition in all people.

Thyroid Select® features three researched thyroid-supportive botanical ingredients: Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Coleus Forskohlii and Guggul (Commiphora mukul):

Ashwagandha is an Ayurvedic adaptogenic herb that balances stress and has been shown to help support healthy thyroid and adrenal function.

Coleus Forskohlii activates an enzyme involved in the release of cyclic AMP, a molecule needed for the proper functioning of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). Coleus also supports healthy fat metabolism.

Guggul (myrrh) has anti-inflammatory properties and has been shown to stimulate thyroid activity. Guggul also supports the thyroid’s ability to absorb iodine properly and has been shown to help support healthy levels of T3 and T4.
